Then you know how the Jewish people felt when they returned to their wrecked land after exile and began rebuilding the temple. They were distracted, discouraged, and ready to throw in the towel. But the prophet Haggai reminded them they could find courage in the God who had never left them.
New Release Today's Kevin Davis claimed "This song is all about having a strong faith. Without faith it is impossible to please God. Sometimes we have a tendency to think we can try to know everything. God tells us in the Bible that with faith, we can do anything in Christ. I'm completely convicted by the strong lyrics and find immense comfort in this song filled with biblical truth. Like her previous songs, 'It is Well' and 'I Will Follow You', Kristene has once again written a song that touches my heart and meets me where I am spiritually."[3] Laura Chambers of Today's Christian Entertainment said "'Take Courage' encourages us to wait for God to reveal His way in due time, never losing faith that He will come through for us. Kristene DiMarco reminds herself of God's promise to complete what He started. We can find Him while we faithfully await the victory He'll bring. The strength of her voice complements the power she knows God wields, before softening as though one were falling asleep assured of their safety."[4]

take courage (third-person singular simple present takes courage, present participle taking courage, simple past took courage, past participle taken courage)
"Rise up -- this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it." Ezra 10:4. God has called us to be a people of action. Without God working through you, corruption will reign and lies will prevail. Therefore, go out and be the salt and light this world needs.
4-5 Take courage, my soul! Do you remember those times (but how could you ever forget them!) when you led a great procession to the Temple on festival days, singing with joy, praising the Lord? Why then be downcast? Why be discouraged and sad? Hope in God! I shall yet praise him again. Yes, I shall again praise him for his help.[a]
In this passage Jesus teaches his disciples courageous faith in the midst of a storm. We might wish that our lives were pleasant all the time and that we were like a ship sailing in smooth waters. But the reality of life is that there are many hardships and sufferings and problems. We can call them the storms of life. Everyone confronts storms of life sooner or later. However, how we handle the storms of life makes a great difference. Jesus uses the storms of life to teach us who he really is. Jesus is God. When we have faith in Jesus that, we can find the meaning of the storms of life. When we have faith in Jesus we can be victorious over the storms of life and render glory to God.
So the disciples got into the boat and set off. Jesus stayed behind and dismissed the crowd. Most likely Jesus encouraged them to study the Bible continuously, work hard at their jobs, love each other, and worship God from their hearts. Then Jesus went up on the mountain to pray. Jesus was by himself and alone with God. It was what Jesus had sought when he crossed the lake in the first place. Jesus must have brought his anguish over the death of John the Baptist to God. Jesus must have prayed for the strength and grace to take up his cross of mission as the Lamb of God. Jesus must have prayed for his disciples and for all people who needed a shepherd. Jesus was strengthened through prayer. Jesus power source was prayer. Jesus source of wisdom was prayer. Jesus depended on God in prayer.
I'm not talking about physical courage. I'm a wimp, but I admire people who do daring things like bungee jumping and eating fish eyeballs. We get along very well, that kind of brave soul and I. We can both enjoy their courage at the same time.
It takes courage, it takes strength of heart, to manage E + R = O (Event + Response = Outcome). This is because the R is most important when the E is most difficult. The more challenging the E, the greater the demand on your R Factor. Courage is about making your R stronger than the E. That kind of internal strength comes from a deep commitment to the core beliefs and guiding principles by which you choose to live your life. There is great strength in knowing who you are.
Courage is an essential tool in The R Factor toolbox because the events that you have on a daily basis may not be so difficult. But some of the events that often occur at home, at play or at work require an R that is nothing but pure courage. Step Up. Make a Difference.
Take CourageMusic and lyrics by Tim GlennTake courage, it is me, the one who walks the seaDon't worry, dry your eyes, I can calm the storms of lifeJust be strong and courageousDo not fear, for I am hereTake courage, it is me...the one who walks the seaDo not let your heart be hardened.Keep your eyes upon this prizeFor I go prepare a place for you...in paradise...Take courage, walk with me, I'll die for you on the treeOh, don't worry, in three days I'll roll that stone away...Just be strong and courageousdo not fear for I am here.Take courage, it is me...the one who walks the seaDo not let your heart be hardened.Keep your eyes upon this prizeFor I go prepare a place for you...in paradise...
As we said earlier, opinions differ, and people have a right to voice their opinion. So no matter how good or bad you are, you will be judged. However, should you let the fear of being judged deter you? Many would unwillingly say yes, but if you are true to yourself and your craft, you should not let that fear dictate how you express your ideas. Instead, you should try to build up the strength to take both praise and critique in your stride. No one should have the power to make you question your creativity if you truly believe in it. Even criticism should be taken positively to further hone your skills, but sometimes people are just mean irrespective of whether your work is good or bad. Learn how to ignore such people.
Conversely, unless you put a stake in the ground and commit to the kind of person and leader you want to be, the path of least resistance will likely win out, keeping you from stepping up to the plate in the moments that matter most.
Thank you so much for this. It is easy to default to a common understanding of flourishing and its antithesis of languishing. As someone who tends to take on burdens of others quickly, it is easy to move to a state of languishing and the defensive and sometimes obsessive habits that are mentioned. To reconfirm the nature of flourishing in difficult times is refreshing.
Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the Lord Take heart, be of good courage, do not be dismayed at these things; though, the building may be contemptible in the eyes of some, nevertheless go on with it manfully and vigorously; let, none despise the day of small things; for from these low beginnings great things will arise, and glorious things will follow, as hereafter predicted; see ( Zechariah 4:9 Zechariah 4:10 ) attend this, work diligently, desist not from it, continue to preside over it, and encourage the people in it; let not thine heart faint, or thine hands be slack; act the part of man, of a good man, and of a governor: and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech the high priest; do not be disheartened at what the ancients think and say concerning this temple, in which thou art to officiate as a high priest; and as a type of him who shall come into this house, and so give it a glory the former never had; continue to give the necessary instructions to the builders, that everything may be done in proper order, and to answer their end and use in the service of the priesthood; faint not, nor be discouraged, but act according to thy character, and show thyself worthy of the office with which thou art invested; consider in whose name thou actest?, whose priest thou art, and in whose service thou art employed: and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord; let not your hearts sink, or spirits fail, at hearing what the more ancient among you say of the difference between this and the former building, which your eyes never saw; do not desist from your work on this account, but go on with it; consider what God has done for you, in bringing you out of captivity, and into your own land, and to the enjoyment of your civil privileges; consider the obligations you lie under to build a house for God; that this is not only a piece of gratitude, and shows a sense of mercies received; but that it is for the glory of God, for your spiritual profit and advantage, and for the use and good of future posterity; quit yourselves therefore like men, and be strong; see ( Joshua 1:6 Joshua 1:7 Joshua 1:9 ) ( 1 Corinthians 16:13 ) : and work; that is, continue working, for they were at work; but there was danger of their leaving off working, being discouraged at what the ancient people said; and therefore they are exhorted to go on in their work, and go through it, and finish it; for so the word here used signifies, "and do" F5; that is, the work thoroughly and effectually; or, as others render it, "and perfect" F6 the work begun, and leave it not unfinished. Aben Ezra, Jarchi, Kimchi, and Ben Melech, connect this word with the beginning of the following verse, thus, "and do the word, or thing, which I covenanted with you" ( Haggai 2:5 ) ; that is, observe the law, and do the commandment then given; but very wrongly: nor is it only to be considered as directed to the people, but to the prince and priest also; for they had all work to do in the house of the Lord, as all ranks and degrees of men now have in the church of Christ; of which that house was typical: the prince or civil magistrate, not to prescribe laws and rules to be observed in it, which only belongs to Christ, who is the sole Head, King, and Lawgiver; but to attend the service of it, to protect and defend it, to promote the interest of it, and distribute cheerfully to the maintenance of its ministers, and to the necessities of the poor saints. Priests or ministers of the word are to work; they are to labour in the word and doctrine; in preaching the Gospel; administering ordinances; governing the church; comforting saints; reproving vice, and refuting error: deacons are to do their work, in taking care of the poor, and minding the secular affairs of the church: and all private Christians are to work, to labour in prayer for the good of it; to hear the word, attend on all ordinances, and hold fast the profession of their faith; all which is to be done in the strength and grace of Christ, without dependence on it, or seeking justification and salvation by it; encouraged, as the Jews are here, with the promise of the divine Presence: for I [am] with you, saith the Lord of hosts; to help in every service, and to protect from all enemies; and this makes the work and service of the Lord's house pleasant and delightful, and secures from all doubts and fears, faintings and misgivings of heart. This is to be understood of God the Father, the Lord of armies above and below; and if he is for and with his people, they have nothing to fear from those that are against them; or to be discouraged in his service. The Targum wrongly interprets this of the Word of the Lord, since he is meant in the next verse ( Haggai 2:5 ) . 2b1af7f3a8
